How Brazil could line up against Chile

A much-changed Brazil squad will look to maintain their 100% record in World Cup qualification when they travel to Chile on Friday.

Several high-profile players from the Premier League have not been selected due to all 20 clubs refusing to release their players for international games in red list countries during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Goalkeepers Alisson Becker and Ederson, defender Thiago Silva, midfielders Fred, Fabinho and Douglas Luiz, as well as forwards Roberto Firmino, Gabriel Jesus and Richarlison, were all part of the squad that reached the Copa America final. However, none of these players will be involved this month.

As a result, Tite is forced to rotate his side, with Palmeiras stopper Weverton set to be given the number one jersey, while Real Madrid's Eder Militao will likely start alongside Marquinhos in central defence.

Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta, who scored two crucial goals in 1-0 victories during the Copa America knockout stage, is expected to keep his place in the number 10 role, just in front of holding midfielders Casemiro and Bruno Guimaraes.

Brazilian star Neymar made his first appearance of the season for Paris Saint-Germain last weekend and has made himself available for international duty, with the 29-year-old set to start on the left flank.

Flamengo striker Gabriel Barbosa deserves to be given a chance up front, after scoring 22 goals in 24 appearances across all competitions so far this season, though he could face competition from 35-year-old Hulk, who has received his first international call-up since 2016.

Brazil possible starting lineup: Weverton; Dani Alves, Marquinhos, Militao, Sandro; Casemiro, Guimaraes; Ribeiro, Paqueta, Neymar; Barbosa
