Cesar praises Scolari after loan switch

Julio Cesar has praised Brazil manager Luis Felipe Scolari for standing by him in recent times.

The 34-year-old goalkeeper, who joined Toronto FC on loan from Queens Park Rangers yesterday, has not made a single start this season for the London club in the Championship.

Despite this, Scolari and his coaching staff have continued to show faith in the keeper.

"What Luis Felipe Scolari and Carlos Alberto Parreira have been doing for me is incredible," he told Globo Esporte.

"I think the time came for me to help them somehow, by playing as it was very complicated to be in the Brazilian national team without playing, as competition is very fierce.

"The pressure is huge, the demands too, especially on them both. I never feared being out of the national team as my relation with Scolari and Parreira has always been very open."

Cesar has represented his country 77 times since making his debut in 2003.
