Bradford vs Luton - prediction, team news, lineups

There is a heavyweight clash brewing in League One this weekend as Bradford City welcome Luton Town to Valley Parade this Saturday afternoon.

The Bantams have made a strong start to their league campaign, but not quite as strong as the Hatters, who are looking to bag their third straight win.

Match preview

Bradford City marked their League One return in impressive style as they kicked off their new season with a 2-1 win over Wycombe Wanderers in front of nearly 20,000 success-starved fans.

Graham Alexander and his men failed to bag back-to-back victories, settling for a goalless draw away at Northampton, but the Bantams soon put things right in the EFL Cup.

The Yorkshire outfit produced a terrific performance in the first round of the competition and knocked out Blackburn Rovers away from home.

Their attention now turns to another former Premier League side, as Bradford look to keep their momentum going against recently relegated Luton Town.

Speaking of the Hatters, the team started their campaign with a couple of impressive league victories.

Matt Bloomfield and his men edged AFC Wimbledon 1-0 at Kenilworth Road before beating Peterborough 2-0 on the road.

Six points, three goals and two clean sheets marked a solid league start for Luton, though they were unable to follow that up in Tuesday’s cup game.

Despite putting up a good fight, the Hatters ended up losing 1-0 to Frank Lampard’s Coventry City, which marked their elimination from the cup.

On one hand it was a disappointing result, while on the other, it offers Luton the chance to concentrate solely on their promotion ambitions.

Team News

Bradford may have got off to a solid start, but they head into the weekend without two injured players.

The Republic of Ireland’s Naill Byrne and England’s Andy Cook are both recovering from injuries and will not be available for selection.

Luton, on the other hand, have got a lengthy injury list during this early stage of the season.

Elijah Adebayo and Tenden Mengi are both battling knee injuries, while Jacob Brown and Tom Lockyer are facing ankle problems.

To add to their worries, Luton are also missing Hakeem Odoffin, who underwent a minor operation in the summer.

Bradford City possible starting lineup: Walker; Tilt, Wright, Pennington; Touray, Leigh, Power, Neufville; Pointon, Sarcevic; Humphrys

Luton Town possible starting lineup: Shea; Holmes, McGuinness, Chigozie; Woodrow, Nelson, Bramall, Walsh, Kouda; Nordas, Dabo

We say: Bradford City 1-1 Luton Town

Valley Parade not only plays host to two in-form teams but also two former Premier League names.

Luton may be considered as the slight favourites, but we are backing Bradford to utilise their home advantage and come away with at least a point.
