Bournemouth confirm the signing of 22-year-old midfielder Hamed Traore from Sassuolo on an initial loan with an obligation to buy.

Bournemouth have confirmed the signing of midfielder Hamed Traore from Sassuolo on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy.

The 22-year-old joins the Cherries on a contract which will see his loan move turned into a permanent five-year deal this summer.

Traore made 11 appearances for Sassuolo during the first half of the 2022-23 season, registering three assists.

The four-time Ivory Coast international becomes Bournemouth's third signing of the last 24 hours, following in the footsteps of Matias Vina and Illia Zabarnyi, the latter of whom was confirmed just moments before the Traore announcement.

In total, the promoted outfit have now added six players to their squad this month, with Dango Ouattara, Darren Randolph and Antoine Semenyo also joining.

Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake told the club's official website: "Hamed is another exciting prospect and we are delighted to have secured his services.

"He is young, ambitious and one of the hottest talents from Serie A. He fits the profile of the type of player we are looking to recruit and will significantly add to our creative resources.

"After Bill Foley had completed his takeover of the club last month, he said he would be investing in the squad and has certainly done so.

"Hamed's arrival takes to six the number of new signings we have made this month and the squad is looking strong for the second half of the season."

Traore made 108 league appearances for Sassuolo in total during his time at the Mapei Stadium, scoring 16 goals and creating a further 11.
