Bournemouth midfielder Richard Hughes says that he is "feeling good" ahead of the new season.

Bournemouth midfielder Richard Hughes has revealed that he cannot wait to begin the new season with the Championship club.

The 33-year-old, who joined Bournemouth in August 2012, made just 24 appearances last season due to injury, but he is confident of contributing in the new campaign.

"I'm feeling good and looking forward to the season more than virtually any season since I've been a professional footballer," he told BBC Sport.

"When you've retired once, like I did, you are back in football for all the right reasons and you don't take anything for granted."

"I'm very much looking forward to it [next season] and we'll see how fit I am in pre-season, of course."

Hughes initially retired from professional football in 2011.
