Howe "delighted" with Boruc capture

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has praised the impact of Artur Boruc on the Cherries' promotion-winning campaign from the Championship after securing the permanent signing of the Polish goalkeeper.

The 35-year-old signed for Bournemouth on a free transfer after his release from Southampton earlier today, penning a one-year contract with the option of a further year.

He spent most of this season on loan with the Cherries, keeping 16 clean sheets in 37 league appearances.

Speaking to the Daily Echo about his latest signing, Howe said: "Artur had a big impact on our season and was very consistent in his performances. I don't think it was any coincidence that his arrival coincided with an improvement in our results.

"He was a massive presence for us and I am delighted to have signed him permanently. I will be looking for him to continue his good form as we move into the Premier League.

"He had other offers but I think he enjoyed his time with us. He fitted in very well, saw what a spirited group we were and enjoyed being part of it."

Bournemouth will be in the top flight of English football for the first time in their history next term after winning the Championship.
