Eddie Howe: 'Artur Boruc not to blame'

Eddie Howe defends goalkeeper Artur Boruc after his mistake saw Watford equalise against Bournemouth in their 1-1 draw.

Eddie Howe has defended goalkeeper Artur Boruc for his mistake that saw Watford equalise against Bournemouth in their 1-1 draw.

The Cherries led the game early on through Glenn Murray, before Boruc gifted Odion Ighalo the chance to equalise, as the Watford striker charged down the goalkeeper's clearance before rounding him and scoring to make it level.

However, Howe is refusing to blame the Polish keeper, as he insists that his side did enough to earn all three points.

"It is another game where we feel like we should have won. It's a disappointing result for us but in the main it was a very good performance," Howe told Sky Sports.

"We encourage our players to play from the back and be brave, so I don't think there's any blame to be apportioned here. It's one of those things that happen in football.

"Artur didn't mean to pass the ball to their centre-forward. The disappointing thing for us was that we were well on top before half time and one goal probably wasn't enough for how dominant we were."

The result keeps the Cherries in 15th place in the table.
