Monchengladbach overcome Hamburg

Borussia Monchengladbach came from behind to beat Hamburger SV 3-1 in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon.

Juan Arango had the game's first chance for the home side after five minutes, but the attacker could only fire wide of the post from close range.

It was Hamburg that opened the scoring after 28 minutes, however, when Jacques Zoua Daogari found the back of the net.

Monchengladbach levelled less than 10 minutes later when Filip Daems converted from close range after having his initial penalty saved by Rene Adler.

Dennis Diekmeier and Tolgay Arslan both came close for Hamburg either side of the hour mark, but it was Monglendladbach who took the lead 15 minutes from time when Raffael converted from inside the box.

It was 3-1 after 79 minutes when Havard Nordtveit found Alvaro Dominguez, whose low shot moved past Adler in the Hamburg goal.

The result has moved the home side into sixth, but Hamburg remain in the relegation zone.
