Ilkay Gundogan turns down Borussia Dortmund stay

Gundogan rejects Dortmund stay

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that midfielder Ilkay Gundogan will not be renewing his contract with the club.

The 24-year-old's current deal expires in 2016, but it is thought that the Bundesliga outfit will cut their losses by selling the Germany international this summer.

Gundogan has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, while Bayern Munich are also thought to have expressed an interest.

"Ilkay Gundogan has decided not to renew his contract," Dortmund wrote on their official Twitter account.

Gundogan joined Dortmund from Nuremberg in 2011.
