Borussia Dortmund were reportedly left feeling outraged by Fabio Silva ahead of his transfer from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Throughout the summer window, the Bundesliga giants were among a number of teams attempting to sign the Portugal international, who had one year left on his contract.
During the closing stages of the market, Dortmund finally got a deal over the line for a fee allegedly just below the £23m mark.
Prior to the 23-year-old moving to the Westfalenstadion, Dortmund were aware of Silva not accumulating any game time during pre-season as he continues to recover from an adductor injury.
Silva has not played since April having suffered the issue while on loan with Spanish side Las Palmas.
Silva infuriates Dortmund chiefs
Nevertheless, as per BILD, Dortmund officials had not been provided with the full story well in advance of the transfer materialising.
The report claims that it was only made clear to Dortmund that Silva had undergone surgery on the aforementioned injury when it came to him starting a medical.
Managing director Lars Ricken is said to have been left 'outraged' by the revelation and was not shy in making his point to those involved.
With that development occurring either on August 28 or 29, Dortmund allegedly felt unable to sign a suitable replacement so progressed with the transfer.
Silva still faces a number of weeks on the sidelines before coming into contention, the forward effectively needing to go through his own pre-season before being considered by Niko Kovac.
Not the first controversy involving Silva
When leaving Wolves, Silva released a lengthy statement on social media to show his gratitude for the five years spent at Molineux.
Several days later, Getafe attacker Christantus Uche posted a near-identical message, a 248-word post missing one word that featured in Silva's.
In the aftermath, Silva attempted to prove that he did not use ChatGPT, as suspected, which implies that Uche simply copied his Instagram post.
While nothing else has since come to light, it put Silva in the spotlight for a negative reason even before this latest report emerged.
