Stalemate between Borussia Dortmund, Schalke 04

Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 play out a 0-0 draw in the Bundesliga on Tuesday night.

Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 have drawn 0-0 at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday night on the day that Bayern Munich wrapped up the Bundesliga title.

The game started with both teams playing good football, but the best chance early on fell to Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker was found by a Marco Reus cross from the left wing but fluffed his lines and his header went well off target.

It became a little scrappy but on 20 minutes Dortmund came close to opening the scoring through Sebastian Kehl, who headed inches wide from a Henrikh Mkhitaryan clipped cross.

The hosts were by now well on top and once more could have gone ahead. Mkhitaryan drilled a low shot from the edge of the box from Erik Durm's pass, but Ralf Fahrmann was down well to tip wide and keep his side level.

Just 15 minutes into the second half Schalke should have gone ahead. Roman Neustadter was left unmarked from a Julian Draxler free kick but could only direct his header straight at Roman Weidenfeller.

Mkhitaryan then had the best chance of the game with less than 20 minutes left, but having been played in after a one-two with Kevin Grosskreutz he dragged his shot wide. That was to be the last chance as both teams had to settle for a draw.
