Thomas Tuchel: 'Roman Burki is first-choice goalkeeper for Bundesliga'

Tuchel: 'Roman Burki is my first choice'

Borussia Dortmund head coach Thomas Tuchel has revealed that Roman Burki will be his first-choice goalkeeper for the 2015-16 Bundesliga campaign.

Roman Weidenfeller was a regular during most of Jurgen Klopp's spell at the club, but injuries late last season handed opportunities to Mitchell Langerak, who moved to Stuttgart in the summer.

Burki arrived from Freiburg earlier in the transfer window, and Tuchel will be starting the 24-year-old when Dortmund host Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.

"Roman Burki will play in goal against Monchengladbach," the Dortmund boss told reporters.

"The decision has only been taken for the Bundesliga, and given how Roman Weidenfeller has presented himself in attitude and performance during the pre-season, I would like him to also play in competitive matches."

Burki kept nine clean sheets in 34 Bundesliga games last season.
