Croatian attacker Ivan Perisic says that he wants a starting role for Borussia Dortmund next season.

Borussia Dortmund forward Ivan Perisic has admitted that "last season had a bitter aftertaste" after the Croatian spent much of it on the sidelines.

The 23-year-old managed 27 league appearances for the German outfit last season, although the majority of those came from the bench.

"The season will be long; we will have many games. I hope that I will play more frequently than I did last year. Last season had a bitter aftertaste, as I did not play quite as much as I would have liked," he told RuhrNachrichten.

"The most important thing I have learned from Jurgen Klopp is the way in which I must defend, and also how I should conduct myself if we lose the ball. I had no idea when I arrived; now I know what he wants from me."

Dortmund secured the Bundesliga title last season.
