Preview: Bolton Wanderers vs. Middlesbrough

Sports Mole previews the Championship clash between Bolton Wanderers and Middlesbrough at the Reebok Stadium on New Year's Day.

Middlesbrough will be looking to take their recent upturn of form into 2014 when they travel to the Reebok Stadium to face Bolton Wanderers on New Year's Day.

Aitor Karanka's men have won their last three matches without conceding a goal, a run that has lifted them up to 15th in the table, 10 points clear of the relegation zone.

Boro's last away outing saw them beat Millwall 2-0, but that was their first victory on their travels since the opening day of the season.

Only the top two in the league have scored more goals than Middlesbrough this season, although their tally of 31 conceded is the worst in the top 15 of the division.

Kei Kamara and Jonathan Woodgate are the only injury worries for the visitors, who could name Marvin Emnes and Emmanuel Ledesma in their starting lineup.

Bolton are three points worse off than their opponents having lost four of their last seven matches, including a 5-3 defeat at the hands of Leicester City in their last outing.

Dougie Freedman's side have only won two games at the Reebok Stadium all season, although they have also only lost one of their last eight, drawing most of their home matches.

The hosts don't have any new injury concerns but are still without the services of Stuart Holden, Joe Riley, Marc Tierney and Adam Bogdan, who are all long-term absentees.
