Steve Walford appointed Bolton assistant

Bolton Wanderers have announced that Steve Walford has joined the club as assistant manager.

The 57-year-old has previously served as head coach at Leicester City and Celtic alongside Martin O'Neill.

Walford is also currently a member of O'Neil's Republic of Ireland coaching set-up, which is a position he has held since 2013.

On a day of change at the Macron Stadium, Johan Mjallby has left the Lancashire outfit due to personal reasons.

Bolton are currently 17th in the Championship table after going four games without defeat.
