Neil Lennon upbeat despite Middlesbrough defeat

Lennon upbeat despite Boro defeat

Bolton Wanderers boss Neil Lennon has insisted that he will be taking plenty of positives from Tuesday's 1-0 defeat at promotion-chasing Middlesbrough.

Albert Adomah struck the only goal of the game on 33 minutes as Aitor Karanka's side stay second in the Championship.

The Trotters were arguably the stronger side in a second half in which the visitors miss a number of chances, and Lennon, who saw his troops lose 4-1 to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, is buoyed by the improvement.

"I felt we definitely deserved something from the game. Boro were the better team in the first half but we were infinitely superior in the second half and had a few chances," he told Sky Sports News.

"It was a huge improvement on the weekend and gives me a lot of encouragement going forward.

"The reaction from that result was excellent and Emile Heskey made a huge difference. I am disappointed we couldn't get something out of the game."

Bolton sit 19th in the Championship, six points clear of the relegation zone.
