Kevin Davies granted Bolton Wanderers testimonial

Bolton Wanderers chairman Phil Gartside says that Kevin Davies is entitled to a testimonial when his contract at the club expires.

Bolton Wanderers have declared that Kevin Davies is welcome to a testimonial match should he desire one.

The Trotters skipper was reportedly told that he is not entitled to a benefit game as his current deal expires just days before his 10-year anniversary at the club, but chairman Phil Gartside has now said this is not the case.

"That 10-year rule no longer exists - we gave John McGinlay a testimonial even though he was only here for five years," he told talkSPORT. "Kevin is welcome to a testimonial."

Davies, 36, admitted that he was "shocked" when manager Dougie Freedman informed him that his existing Bolton deal will not be extended.
