Bolton Wanderers' Dougie Freedman hopes for cup inspiration

Bolton Wanderers manager Dougie Freedman hopes that a good FA Cup run will help them in the Championship.

Bolton Wanderers manager Dougie Freedman believes that his side's FA Cup triumph over Blackpool could help them in the Championship.

The Trotters got the better of their opponents 2-1 at the Reebok Stadium on Saturday to reach the fourth round of the competition.

"I like a cup run," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying. "It helped us last year where we beat Sunderland and that got our season going.

"It was a good old fashioned cup tie today and I would rather be in the next round than not."

Bolton are currently 18th in the league table with 27 points from 24 matches.
