Bristol City not taking Bolton FA Cup clash lightly

Bristol City not taking Bolton FA Cup clash lightly

Bristol City are taking nothing for granted in their FA Cup fourth-round clash with struggling Bolton.

In-form City beat Sky Bet Championship rivals Bolton 2-1 at home less than two weeks ago and are big favouries to repeat that success at Ashton Gate on Friday night.

But Robins assistant manager Dean Holden, a former Bolton player, said: "They've been in pretty much every game they've been in.

"Even the 6-0 loss to Hull, they were in the game for long periods, and they had a bit of capitulation towards the end of that game."

Holden stood in for pre-match media duties as manager Lee Johnson has spent time with Bundesliga club RB Leipzig this week.

"Lee's gone to have a look around, watch them train, get an understanding of a big European club," Holden said.

"Of course, that will help our club in due course, with contacts and getting an eye on some of their players."

While City have won five successive games to move into promotion contention, Bolton's poor league form has mirrored their off-field problems.

Three straight league defeats have left Bolton one place off the bottom of the table, and boss Phil Parkinson admits the Championship has to be their priority.

"We'll go there with the intention of getting through, obviously, but one eye has got to be on that Reading game on Tuesday night," Parkinson said.

"They have got a free weekend and I have got to make sure that when we come to that game that we're fresh and ready to go."
