Blackpool edge past Sheffield Wednesday on Paul Ince's return

Ricardo Fuller and Dan Gosling hit a goal apiece as the Blackpool edge past Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 on Paul Ince's return to the dugout.

Paul Ince returned to the dugout for the first time in six weeks to watch Blackpool secure a narrow 2-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Bloomfield Road this afternoon.

Manager Ince, who completed his five-match stadium ban in the 1-1 draw with Birmingham City last weekend, watched on from the technical area as Ricardo Fuller fired the Tangerines into a sixth-minute lead, before Dan Gosling added a much-needed second with 18 minutes remaining.

The Seasiders were given the ideal start through the former Stoke City striker, who reacted quickest from a corner to smash into the roof of the net in the early stages.

The visitors would have been level shortly after if not for the intervention of goalkeeper Matt Gilks, who produced a smart save to deny Connor Wickham's close-range effort.

Dave Jones's men spurned the opportunity to level matters on the stroke of half time, with Jose Semedo culpable for the miss by heading narrowly wide from a set piece.

Gosling made sure of the points on 72 minutes, smashing in off the post from six yards out as Ince marked his return to Bloomfield Road with a victory.
