Brett Emerton set for Sydney FC switch

Blackburn Rovers midfielder Brett Emerton is close to finalising a move to Australian A-League club Sydney FC, according to BBC Sport.

The 32-year-old's contract expires next summer, but it is understood that it could be cancelled to allow the move to go through.

The Australian international is expected to sign a three-year-deal on Thursday afternoon.

Emerton joined the Lancashire club from Feyenoord in 2003 for an undisclosed fee and has gone on to make 247 appearances for Rovers.
