New Blackburn Rovers signing Danny Murphy is confident that he will be able to cope with the physical demands of Championship football.

Blackburn Rovers midfielder Danny Murphy is confident that he will be able to cope with the physical demands of Championship football.

The 35-year-old, who was released by Fulham last month, completed his move to Ewood Park seven days ago.

He told Sky Sports News: "The amount of games is more difficult, but that's even more reason why you need the strength in depth.

"The Championship is eight games more than the Premier League and I've thought about that as well, but for two out of the last three years I've played Europa League with Fulham.

"If you look at my own personal games, I've not got a problem with it. In fact I'm better when I'm playing more games than less - a lot of older players seem that way."

Murphy made 48 appearances in all competitions last season.
