Barnsley loan Birmingham City goalkeeper Nick Townsend

Barnsley have completed the signing of Birmingham City goalkeeper Nick Townsend on a short-term youth loan.

The 20-year-old, who spent last season on loan with Lincoln City, has signed a deal at Oakwell that will expire on November 1.

"I am really pleased to join the club for what is sure to be an exciting season ahead," the youngster told the club's official website.

"Since I heard of the interest, I've tracked the players coming into the club and I've been very impressed with the quality of the players recruited."

Townsend agreed a new two-year contract with Birmingham back in May.
