Bayern Munich midfielder Javi Martinez has been ruled out of action for a month after undergoing groin surgery on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old, who suffered the injury in the latter stages of last season, appeared as a second-half substitute in the European Super Cup win over Chelsea last week.
However, it was confirmed earlier this week that the Spaniard would require surgery to correct the long-term problem, ruling him out for the next month of the season.
Martinez, who was forced to drop out of the Spain squad for their upcoming World Cup qualification matches, arrived at Bayern from Athletic Bilbao in 2012.
