Owen Hargreaves has claimed that it is "ridiculous" for people to criticise Pep Guardiola for Bayern Munich's form this season.
Despite securing the Bundesliga title in his first campaign in Germany, Guardiola has seen his tactics questioned after Bayern were knocked out of the Champions League semi-finals by Real Madrid.
However, Hargreaves believes that the Spaniard does not deserve to be singled out for criticism following a positive start to life at the Allianz Arena.
"Bayern Munich have been the best team in Germany by a mile for a long time and he's come in and broken all the records, so he's done a remarkable job. It's a great group of players he inherited," the former Bayern midfielder told Goal.com.
"They lost two games this season. I think to put a negative pitch on the end of the season would be ridiculous.
"They got beaten by a better side in the Champions League, you've got to say, but they won the league and are on course for a double. I'd consider that a pretty successful season."
Bayern will win the domestic double if they can beat Borussia Dortmund in the DFB-Pokal final on Saturday.
