Pep Guardiola: 'Bayern Munich need to improve'

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola believes that it is still possible, and necessary, for his side to improve in the second half of the season.

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has claimed that his side still "need to improve" despite their scintillating form so far this season.

The reigning German champions have already won two pieces of silverware this season and are well placed to add to that tally.

They currently lead the Bundesliga table by seven points with a game in hand having reached the winter break with an unbeaten record, while they are also in the quarter-finals of the domestic cup and the last 16 of the Champions League.

However, Guardiola believes that it is still possible - and necessary - for his side to improve during the second half of the season.

"We want to have even more control, even more of the ball. This team needs to be improved. That's the best mentality you can have," the Bundesliga's official website quotes Guardiola as saying.

Bayern will resume their season with an away match against Borussia Monchengladbach when the winter break ends on January 24.
