Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery: 'Only ourselves to blame'

Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery says the team have nobody but themselves to blame after losing 3-1 to Borussia Monchengladbach, their first league defeat this season.

Franck Ribery has stated that the blame for Bayern Munich's defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach lies solely with the players.

The loss, which was Bayern's first this season in the Bundesliga, saw the winger return to Pep Guardiola's matchday squad for the first time in almost nine months following a lengthy injury layoff.

"It is our own fault. After the first half we have to be 2-0 or 3-0 in the lead," Ribery told reporters after the defeat.

"But Gladbach did well and took all their chances. It is a pity. We have to keep going."

Guardiola's side still sit at the top of the league table, five points ahead of closest rivals Borussia Dortmund.
