The 21-year-old was alone in the house at the time and required hospital treatment for smoke inhalation.
The Brazilian centre-back has now been held on suspicion of grave arson, after the blaze broke out in the early hours of last Wednesday morning.
"We are surprised by the new situation that Breno will now be investigated. As we do not have any further information we cannot make any other comment," read a statement on the club's official website.
The damage to Breno's property is believed to have been worth €1.5m.
