Boenisch extends Leverkusen deal

Bayer Leverkusen defender Sebastian Boenisch has extended his contract with the Bundesliga club until 2016.

The 26-year-old joined Leverkusen on a free agent at the start of November, but has sufficiently impressed boss Wolfgang Holzhauser to earn a new deal.

"It was impressive how quickly Sebastian reached such a significant level after so long without match practice. He helped us out in a difficult situation and earned everybody's respect in the process," Wolfgang told reporters.

Boenisch was recently recalled to the Poland squad.
