League One roundup: Bristol City crowned champions

Sports Mole rounds up Saturday's action in League One as Bristol City are crowned champions with a 0-0 draw against Coventry City.

Bristol City, who secured promotion to the Championship with a 6-0 win over Bradford City on Tuesday, were confirmed as League One champions this afternoon as they secured the point that they needed for the title with a goalless draw against Coventry City.

MK Dons kept up their hunt for automatic promotion with a comfortable 6-1 win over Leyton Orient, which came thanks to goals from Dean Bowditch, Lewis Baker, William Grigg, Dele Alli, and a brace from Robert Hall.

However, Swindon Town's hopes of a top-two finish were dealt a blow as James Berrett's first goal for Yeovil Town gave the Glovers a 1-0 win at the County Ground.

Sheffield United were forced to settle for a draw as Billy Clarke's late equaliser for Bradford City against his former club cancelled out Jason Holt's opener, while sixth-placed Chesterfield also had to settle for a point against Oldham Athletic.

Rochdale saw their dreams of a playoff place all but ended as they had Jamie Jones and Matthew Lund sent off in a 1-0 defeat against Gillingham.

At the other end of the table, Crawley Town climbed out of the relegation zone with a 2-0 victory over Notts County, courtesy of Kelly Youga's spectacular overhead kick on 14 minutes and Darren Ward's goal just two minutes later.

Fleetwood Town's goalless draw with Doncaster Rovers ensures that they remain in League One, but Crewe Alexandra drop to 20th despite earning a precious point as Marcus Haber's strike gave them a 1-1 draw with Walsall.

There was heartbreak for Colchester United, who are now four points from safety, as Hakeeb Adelakun's equaliser deep into second-half injury time rescued a 2-2 draw for Scunthorpe United, while Barnsley's mid-table clash with Peterborough United ended 1-1.

Results in full: Barnsley 1-1 Peterborough United, Bristol City 0-0 Coventry City, Colchester United 2-2 Scunthorpe United, Crawley Town 2-0 Notts County, Crewe Alexandra 1-1 Walsall, Doncaster Rovers 0-0 Fleetwood Town, Gillingham 1-0 Rochdale, MK Dons 6-1 Leyton Orient, Oldham Athletic 0-0 Chesterfield, Sheffield United 1-1 Bradford City, Swindon Town 0-1 Yeovil Town.
