David Villa will reportedly choose to join Tottenham Hotspur over Fiorentina as he moves closer to an exit from Barcelona.

Barcelona striker David Villa will reportedly choose to sign for Tottenham Hotspur over Fiorentina next week.

The Spaniard has been a target for both Spurs and La Viola this summer but the 31-year-old will sign for the North London outfit, according to The Mirror.

Barcelona are looking for £12m for the former Valencia forward, whom Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas sees as an ideal signing as he looks to alter the team's formation to a 4-3-3 system next season.

Villa is currently with the Spanish national side as they take on Brazil this evening in the Confederations Cup final.

Meanwhile, Villas-Boas has said that he intends to quit football management within the next decade to take up a lifetime ambition of competing in the Dakar Rally.
