Report: Lionel Messi to sign new Barcelona deal

The agent of Barcelona forward Lionel Messi is reportedly in the process of negotiating a new long-term contract with the Spanish outfit for his client.

Jorge Messi, the Argentine's father and agent, is expected to meet with the Catalan side next week to discuss a potential pay rise for the 26-year-old, according to El 9 Esportiu.

It is believed that the arrival of Neymar, who has become the club's highest paid player this summer, has moved the Messi camp into a rethink over the striker's current terms.

Messi was among the scorers when Barcelona registered an 8-0 win over Santos on Friday.
