Barcelona president Joan Laporta says that the Catalan giants are unlikely to be active during the January transfer market.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has admitted that his club are unlikely to be active during the January transfer window.

The Catalan giants signed Raphinha, Jules Kounde, Robert Lewandowski, Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen, Hector Bellerin and Marcos Alonso during a busy summer market despite their financial problems.

There have been claims that the club will again be looking to improve their squad in January.

However, Laporta has said that Barcelona "did the work in the summer", and the club are not planning to make any mid-season signings at this moment in time.

"We did the work in the summer and at the moment there is no sign of having to make operations. We have a midfield with Busi (Sergio Busquets) as the master of ceremonies, Pedri, Gavi, Frenkie [de Jong], [Franck] Kessie," Laporta told BarcaTV.

"Up front we have men like Ansu Fati in whom we have a lot of hope. There's [Robert] Lewandowski, Ferran [Torres], Raphinha, [Ousmane] Dembele... In defence, we have [Ronald] Araujo at centre-back, with Eric [Garcia] who knows how to get the ball out very well like the great players.

"In goal, in addition to [Marc-Andre] ter Stegen, we have [Inaki] Pena and [Arnau] Tenas. I've forgotten [Alejandro] Balde (laughs). When you talk about a player you have to think about not leaving any out. Jordi Alba has also had a very good World Cup."

Laporta also offered his opinion on the club's summer signings, who have had mixed success since their arrivals.

"Lewandowski is one of the architects of the return of joy to Barcelona. He brings you professionalism and a sense of responsibility, as well as being an experienced player, and he also has that charm and glamour that makes the fans very happy. He has a very good environment as well," the president added.

"Kounde has reached the World Cup final, Christensen has had a very good World Cup, Kessie, we understand that in the second part of the season he will be more important, there is Raphinha.

"Bellerin, who has recovered from injury, I hope he's getting better and better. The right-back position is a bit of a challenge to consolidate.

"Luckily we have Sergi Roberto and Bellerin. We also have the addition of Marcos, who can play as a full-back and centre-back."

Barcelona will be back in La Liga action against Espanyol on December 31 before opening 2023 with a trip to Atletico Madrid on January 8.
