Antoine Griezmann 'willing to take pay cut to join Barcelona'

Griezmann 'willing to take pay cut for Barca'

Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann is reportedly prepared to slash his wages in order to finally complete a switch to Barcelona.

The France international snubbed a move to the La Liga champions last summer by signing a new deal at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Mundo Deportivo reports that Griezmann regrets committing to Atleti, however, and he will now attempt to push through a transfer later this year.

Griezmann's release clause is set to plummet from £170m to £100m, putting him in Barca's price bracket if they revive their interest.

The report claims that the 28-year-old's £20m-a-year salary could prove a problem, but he will sacrifice around £6m a year if it means realising his ambition of joining the Catalan giants.

Atletico also risk losing Diego Godin, Diego Costa and Saul Niguez in the summer, having already sold full-back Lucas Hernandez to Bayern Munich for £68m.
