Everton are still reportedly leading the race to sign Barcelona defender Yerry Mina this summer, despite interest from newly-promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Mina's agent yesterday confirmed that he has held talks with Everton over a potential move to Goodison Park, but speculation has since emerged that Wolves are hopeful of hijacking the deal.
Jair Mina - the player's uncle and agent - revealed that the 23-year-old's preferred choice is still to stay at Barcelona, but once again acknowledged that Everton are in the running for the Colombia international.
"For now, Yerry Mina has shown only one part. We wanted him to be in Barcelona and it was not easy. It was the number one goal and he got it," Jair Mina is quoted as saying by The Mirror.
"He wants to succeed in the world of football and he must do it at a big club like Barcelona. I spoke with Ramon Planes and he told me to be calm, that he has a contract and that what arrives will be heard.
"For Yerry Mina it would be a failure not to play. He just wants to play."
Mina has a release clause of £88.4m at Camp Nou but could be available for around £20m due to concerns over the number of non-EU players Barcelona are able to use.
