Barcelona president: 'We want to keep hold of Dani Alves'

Barcelona hoping to keep hold of Alves

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has revealed that Dani Alves has been offered a new deal to remain at the club.

The 32-year-old, who is out of contract at the Camp Nou this summer, is said to be wanted by Manchester United.

Reports emerged earlier this week suggesting that a switch to the Premier League outfit is close to being completed, although the Catalan club have made it clear that they want the full-back to remain with them.

"We have presented Alves with a renewal offer of respect toward him," Bartomeu told beIN Sports. "He already knows it, but the decision is his.

"If you ask for my opinion, I would say 'sign it' because it is a good contract with Barcelona, which I consider to be the best club."

Paris Saint-Germain have also been strongly linked with Alves, who is expected to start this weekend's Champions League final against Juventus.
