Ronald Koeman sacking 'to cost Barcelona over £10m'

Ronald Koeman will reportedly receive €12m (£10.1m) following his departure as Barcelona head coach.

The Dutchman was relieved of his duties at Camp Nou following Wednesday's 1-0 defeat to Rayo Vallecano, which left the Catalan giants down in ninth position in the La Liga table.

According to Sport, Koeman personally paid the buy-out clause of his contract with the Netherlands in order to become Barcelona's new manager.

However, under the terms of the agreement, the 58-year-old would receive the amount in full if his deal at Camp Nou was terminated before it expired next June.

As a result, Koeman is due to receive a €12m (£10.1m) pay off from Barcelona, with his remaining salary also included in the arrangement.

Xavi has allegedly agreed a deal to be Koeman's replacement at Camp Nou, with the Spaniard, who is currently in charge of Al Sadd, set to return to the club that he left as a player in 2015.
