Barcelona announce Jordi Vinyals departure

Barcelona have announced that Barcelona B coach Jordi Vinyals has been fired after the club's second team were relegated from the Segunda Division.

The Catalan side's B team finished bottom in Spain's second tier, nine points from safety, leaving them to play in Segunda Division B next term.

A statement on the club's website said: "Barcelona coach Jordi Vinyals will not be in charge of Barca B next season. The club's technical commission acknowledged the need to begin a new chapter in the club's reserve team and has begun a period of reflection in order to restructure next season's coaching staff."

Vinyals began last season with the club's Juvenil A side, replacing Eusebio Sacristan with Barcelona B in February.
