Barcelona's Carles Puyol undergoes operation

Barcelona defender Carles Puyol has successfully undergone an operation to treat swelling in his right free.

The 35-year-old, who managed just 22 appearances for the Catalan outfit last season, is expected to be out of action for a month.

The procedure, which was carried out by Doctor Richard Pruna, was completed this afternoon following a 35-minute operation.

The Spaniard has not featured for Barcelona since March.
