Javier Mascherano: 'Pep Guardiola has converted me to centre-back'

Barcelona and Argentina player Javier Mascherano believes that former coach Pep Guardiola has been his most influential coach, and claims that centre-back is now his favoured position.

Mascherano impressed after being deployed as an emergency centre-back on several occasions last season, and the former Liverpool midfielder now believes that he is most comfortable in defence.

"Guardiola is the coach who has made the biggest mark on me during my career," Mascherano told Radio9.

"At Barcelona, I want to continue to play as a centre-back; it's where I feel most comfortable."

Mascherano signed for Barcelona in August 2010.
