Gerard Gumbau "very happy" with Barcelona debut

Spanish midfielder Gerard Gumbau says that he was "very happy" to make his Barcelona debut in Sunday's 4-1 win over Levante.

Gerard Gumbau has revealed his delight after making his first Barcelona appearance in his team's 4-1 win over Levante on Sunday evening.

The 20-year-old replaced Sergio Busquets just past the hour at Camp Nou and he has said that "it seems impossible" he has risen to the first team after just one season with Barcelona B.

"Camp Nou is impressive. I was on the bench against Malaga and today I'm very happy with my debut in the first division," Gumbau told reporters.

"It seems impossible that in one year I've debuted with the first team. Most importantly, you have to take it in and keep your feet on the ground.

"I don't have any goals, just to keep working hard. My spot is with [Barca B] and I just want to take advantage of my opportunities in the first team."

Gumbau came through the youth system at Girona, before making the move to Barcelona in 2014. Last season, he made 38 appearances for Barca's second team.
