Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has insisted that he "would never sell" Javier Mascherano.
The Argentine international arrived at the Nou Camp in 2010 from Premier League side Liverpool.
Guardiola believes that the 27-year-old has gone on to make himself one of the most valuable players in his squad.
"Javier is an almost unimaginable signing," Guardiola told the club's official website.
"He's the type of player that a manager wouldn't trade for anything, and would never sell. He's a unique signing, we're very pleased to have him."
Mascherano has never scored for Barca.
