Eric Abidal ready to leave hospital

Eric Abidal will reportedly be discharged from hospital later today.

The Frenchman has spent the last 40 days under medical care after undergoing a liver transplant at the Hospital Barcaclinic.

He has now been given the green light to return home and continue his recovery with his family, according to El Mundo Deportivo.

Despite the positive news, the 32-year-old was forced to announce his retirement from football last week.

That news brought an end to his five-year stint with Barcelona, where he had won three La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues.
