Barcelona injury, suspension news vs. Benfica: Catalan giants hit with fresh fitness blow

Fresh fitness blow for Catalan giants: Barcelona injury, suspension news vs. Benfica

Barcelona will be aiming to record their sixth Champions League success of the campaign when they travel to Benfica on Tuesday night.

The Catalan outfit have been impressive in the competition this season, winning five and losing one of their six matches to collect 15 points, which has left them in second spot in the Champions League table.

Hansi Flick's side will enter this clash off the back of a disappointing result, though, having drawn 1-1 with Getafe in La Liga on Saturday.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with Benfica, who sit down in 15th spot in the overall table, three points outside the automatic qualification spots.

Dani Olmo

Status: Out Type of injury: Muscle Possible return date: Unknown

Barcelona have been hit with the news that Olmo, who has recently been temporarily registered by the Catalan outfit, will be unavailable for selection against Benfica due to a muscular problem which he suffered against Getafe.

Marc Bernal

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Bernal suffered an ACL injury against Rayo Vallecano in the league earlier this term, and he is out for the season, with the youngster working to be ready for pre-season ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Barcelona will be missing their number one goalkeeper Ter Stegen for the remainder of the season due to the serious knee injury that he suffered in the clash with Villarreal on September 22.

Inigo Martinez

Martinez suffered a hamstring problem during the Spanish Super Cup final against Real Madrid, and the centre-back is expected to be on the sidelines for the next three to four weeks recovering from the issue.
