Barcelona beat Galatasaray to book spot in Europa League last eight

Barcelona have booked their spot in the quarter-finals of the Europa League courtesy of a 2-1 win over Galatasaray in the second leg of their last-16 tie in Turkey.

The tie was delicately poised ahead of Thursday's clash following a goalless draw in the first leg at Camp Nou, but the Catalan giants were victorious in the second leg to advance to the final eight.

The home side actually took the lead in the 28th minute of the contest when Marcao found the back of the net, but Barcelona answered back before the interval through Pedri, who was set up by Ferran Torres.

Ousmane Dembele was introduced for Barcelona at the interval, replacing Adama Traore, and the visitors took the lead shortly after the break, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring his seventh goal for the club since arriving in the latter stages of the January transfer window.

Patrick van Aanholt came close to a leveller for Galatasaray on the hour, just missing the crossbar with a fierce strike, before Mostafa Mohamed struck wide of the Barcelona past 13 minutes from time.

Barcelona boss Xavi used his fourth and fifth substitutions late on, as Clement Lenglet and Memphis Depay were introduced, and the away side were able to close out the match with their 2-1 lead in place.

Blaugrana now have the small matter of a Clasico against Real Madrid in La Liga this weekend.
