Barcelona team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Real Madrid

Barcelona injury, suspension list vs. Real Madrid

Barcelona will seek an immediate response to their shock La Liga defeat to Almeria when they take on Real Madrid in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final on Thursday.

Xavi's side were stunned 1-0 by Almeria on Sunday night courtesy of El Bilal Toure's winner, but Los Blancos' 1-1 draw with city rivals Atletico Madrid means that they still boast a healthy seven-point lead at the top of the table.

La Blaugrana edged past Real Sociedad 1-0 in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals thanks to Ousmane Dembele's effort, and they travel to the Santiago Bernabeu this week before hosting Real Madrid in the second leg at Camp Nou on April 5.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the first leg with Real Madrid, who overcame Atletico in extra time in the quarter-finals.

Robert Lewandowski

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: Unknown

Barcelona announced on Monday that Robert Lewandowski had sustained a hamstring issue during the weekend's defeat to Almeria, and he will be sidelined for an unspecified amount of time.

Ousmane Dembele

Status: Out Type of injury: Thigh Possible return date: March 19 (vs. Real Madrid)

Ousmane Dembele is making good progress in his recovery from a thigh injury, which he suffered at the end of January, and the Frenchman could potentially return for another El Clasico with Real Madrid on March 19.

Pedri

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: March 12 (vs. Athletic Bilbao)

Pedri was a first-half casualty of Barcelona's Europa League clash with Manchester United at Camp Nou two Thursdays ago with a thigh problem, but the issue is not too severe, and there is reportedly hope that he could return for the meeting with Athletic Bilbao on March 12.

BARCELONA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Barcelona have no players suspended for the first leg, but Gavi and Raphinha will miss the weekend's La Liga clash with Valencia due to yellow card accumulation.
