Barcelona injury, suspension news vs. Bayern: Garcia adds to defensive woes

Araujo, Christensen latest: Barcelona injury, suspension news vs. Bayern

Barcelona will welcome Bayern Munich to the Olympic Stadium in the Champions League in a heavyweight encounter on Wednesday night.

Former Bayern boss Hansi Flick has had an excellent start to life as the Barca manager, sitting top of La Liga with nine wins from 10 following a 5-1 win over Sevilla at the weekend.

Barca also got their Champions League campaign up and running on matchday two, thrashing Young Boys 5-0 on home soil.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's injury and suspension news ahead of the matchday three clash with Bayern.

Ronald Araujo

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: Unknown

Araujo is currently sidelined for Barcelona, but the centre-back has revealed that he is making good progress in his efforts to recover from a hamstring operation, with November being pencilled in as a possible return date.

Andreas Christensen

Status: Out Type of injury: Achilles Possible return date: November 6 (vs. Red Star Belgrade)

After two months out with Achilles injury, Christensen remains sidelined for now, but he could return ahead of their matchday four clash with Red Star Belgrade at the start of next month.

Marc Bernal

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Bernal suffered an ACL injury against Rayo Vallecano in the league earlier this season and the teenage midfielder is set to spend the rest of the campaign out.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Barcelona will be without first-choice goalkeeper Ter Stegen for the remainder of the season due to the serious knee injury that he suffered in the 5-1 win over Villarreal last month.

Ferran Torres

Status: Out Type of injury: Thigh Possible return date: Unknown

Wide man Torres is set to remain on the treatment table for roughly another month or so due to the thigh injury he suffered against Alaves just before the international break.

Eric Garcia

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Muscle Possible return date: October 23 (vs. Bayern)

After playing 85 minutes in the win over Alaves before the international break, Garcia was a late absentee for the Sevilla clash and is unlikely to feature here.
