Thursday's Barcelona transfer talk news roundup: Luis Suarez, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Houssem Aouar

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Barcelona on Thursday, September 17.

The summer transfer window has now begun, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Barcelona eye possible reinforcements.

The Spanish champions spent big on Antoine Griezmann last summer but missed out on a big-name striker in January and have been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, meaning that selling players rather than buying could be their priority this summer.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer news from the Camp Nou.

Thursday morning's Barcelona transfer talk news roundup:

Barcelona 'blocked Ronald Koeman move for Romelu Lukaku'

Barcelona reportedly blocked Ronald Koeman's attempts to bring Romelu Lukaku to the club this summer.

Lukaku joined Inter Milan from Manchester United last August and enjoyed an impressive 2019-20 campaign for the Italian giants, scoring 34 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Koeman informed the Barca board that he wanted to sign the Belgium international, who he managed at Everton, as a replacement for Luis Suarez.

However, the report claims that the Catalan giants blocked the proposal due to the financial impact of the coronavirus outbreak, which means that the club cannot afford to sign the 27-year-old this summer.

Lukaku has a contract at San Siro until June 2024, meaning that Inter are in an extremely strong position when it comes to any potential negotiations for the powerful centre-forward.

A recent report, meanwhile, claimed that Real Madrid had identified the Belgian as a potential long-term replacement for Karim Benzema.

Report: Two big clubs tried to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer

Arsenal reportedly rejected offers for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from 'two big clubs' before signing the Gabon international to a new three-year contract.

The 31-year-old ended the speculation surrounding his future when he penned a new deal with the Gunners on Tuesday, and he is now contracted to Mikel Arteta's side until June 2023.

The attacker was strongly linked with a move away from the Gunners towards the back end of last season, with Barcelona thought to be in the hunt for his signature.

According to Sky Sports News, 'there were two major offers' for Aubameyang from 'two big clubs' during this summer's transfer window, but Arsenal managed to convince their captain to commit his future to the club.

The former AC Milan youngster enjoyed an excellent 2019-20 campaign at club level, scoring 29 times in 44 appearances in all competitions.

Aubameyang has also started this season with two goals in two appearances, netting against Liverpool in the Community Shield before registering against Fulham in the Premier League.
