Porto announce Jackson Martinez exit

Porto confirm that Jackson Martinez is set to join Atletico Madrid after the La Liga club triggered his release clause.

Porto have confirmed that Jackson Martinez will join Atletico Madrid after the La Liga club triggered his release clause.

Despite previously being linked with Arsenal and AC Milan, Martinez soon became a top target for Atletico, who are looking to improve their attacking options following the sale of Mario Mandzukic to Juventus.

The Colombian striker's agent recently revealed that his client was on his way to the Spanish capital and the deal now appears to be close to being confirmed.

A statement on Porto's website said: "Atletico Madrid agreed on Tuesday to pay Jackson Martinez's release clause to the sum of €35m (£24.8m)."

Martinez scored 92 goals in 136 matches for Porto.
