Atletico Madrid want Nelson Semedo from Barcelona?

Atletico Madrid reportedly want to sign Barcelona defender Nelson Semedo in this summer's transfer window.

Diego Simeone's side are expected to be in the market for a new right-back ahead of the 2019-20 campaign with the experienced Juanfran leaving on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract.

According to Diario AS, Semedo has emerged as a leading target for the capital giants, who plan to use Barca's interest in Antoine Griezmann in an attempt to secure a deal.

The 25-year-old has made over 80 appearances for the Spanish champions since a 2017 switch from Benfica.

The Portugal international was rotated with Sergi Roberto in the right-back position last season, however, and could be offered guaranteed first-team football with a switch to the Wanda Metropolitano.

Atletico's squad was weakened on Thursday as Manchester City completed a club-record deal for Spanish midfielder Rodri.
